Rotterdam-based KPN, a telecommunications and IT provider, announced on Tuesday, January 3, that it has acquired integration and data management company Itzos to strengthen its digital healthcare division, KPN Health Exchange.
KPN did not disclose the financial details of the deal.
According to KPN, the acquisition was built upon existing collaborations to develop its digital health services further and focus on making data more accessible to its customers.
With this acquisition, the Rotterdam-based company plans to create a single platform where every Dutch person will soon be able to view their medical data, including insight into the file of various healthcare providers such as the hospital, general practitioner, physiotherapist, or care for the elderly.
Further, patients can also add self-measured health data, such as from a pedometer or a blood pressure monitor.
“By enabling data sharing, a collaboration between healthcare institutions becomes easier, and healthcare information becomes digitally available and usable. This results in the best patient/client and care experience,” states KPN.
