Last update:

Around the globe, almost every industry is hurtling towards greater digitalisation. This has led to the booming of the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) industry. Many large SaaS enterprises have expanded into the European countries as the market in the region is ready for growth. The incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, along with digitalisation, are major factors that are driving the SaaS growth.

For businesses, SaaS helps eliminate the hardware acquisition cost, provisioning & maintenance as well as software licensing, installation, and support. The SaaS market is anticipated to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25.00% during the forecast period 2018-2023.

Raises €4.2M

In the recent development, creators of the platform for fast-tracking SaaS development and innovation – Frontegg, have raised $5M (approx €4.2M) in its Seed round of funding led by Pitango, with backing from i3 Equity and Global Founders Capital.

“Before AWS, engineering teams had to scale their own infrastructure. Before Kubernetes, DevOps teams were confined to assembling their own container orchestration and management solutions. These platforms liberated software organisations from dealing with these non-core, yet critical tasks while delivering top-notch solutions for the challenge at hand,” shares Sagi Rodin, co-founder, and CEO of Frontegg.

Rodin further adds, “Our mission is to give SaaS innovators the same opportunity – to accelerate the delivery of enterprise-grade SaaS applications while providing the safest, most secure, and optimal user experience.”

About Frontegg

The Israel-based company was founded in October 2019 by Sagi Rodin and Aviad Mizrachi. Frontegg is a platform that offers all the necessary features a SaaS product requires. These include notifications, logs, server authentication, third-party channels, messages, and bug reports, among others.

The platform liberates dev teams from the burden of building SaaS capabilities. It enables users to add and adjust the features depending on the need.

Frontegg provides a set of pre-built, essential SaaS product capabilities that easily integrate within any new or existing SaaS application. As a result, Frontegg’s “SaaS Essentials” as a Service platform empowers organisations of all sizes to accelerate the delivery and the on-going enhancements of enterprise-grade SaaS applications.

“Technically speaking”

Frontegg leverages the adoption of best-practice approaches such as microservices and containers to provide a scalable solution, which is environment – and stack-agnostic and easily integrates into any software infrastructure.

Dev teams can access Frontegg’s suites as managed services on Frontegg’s cloud, or install as a Docker/K8s container on their own or in their customers’ cloud. Multi-tenant and secure, Frontegg supports multiple frameworks including React, Angular, Vue.js, Node.js, Django, Flask, and ASP.NET.

The feature-set includes Granular Roles & Permissions, SAML and SSO, Audit logs, Reports, Notification center, and more. The integration of a feature is very quick and shouldn’t take more than a few hours of work from a full stack developer.

The suite of essential business capabilities provided by Frontegg focuses on three major end-user experiences:

  1. Secure access experience with features such as authentication, granular roles management, audit logs, privacy and compliance controls, and API management
  2. Connectivity and integrations experience through in-app notification center and third-party app integrations
  3. Engagement experience via overviews, reporting, and in-app messaging

Expansion to North America

According to the company, it is looking to expand its North American customer base in the upcoming quarters.

The company is set out to accelerate innovation in the global SaaS market, which it projects to reach over $116B (approx €99.1B) in 2020, as over 80% of companies are planning to offer SaaS by 2022.
