The Netherlands-based TAUW, a European consultancy and engineering firm, announced on Friday, September 1, that it has acquired Utrecht-based GeoZICHT.
GeoZICHT specialises in drone-based geospatial services and brings advanced capabilities in drone technology and sensors. The company offers precise mapping, inspections, and compliance with European regulations.
“With our drones and advanced sensors (Visual, Infrared, LiDAR), we image and map even the most difficult-to-reach locations in detail and accurately,” says the firm.
GeoZICHT offers expertise in diverse drone-based services, including high-quality geospatial data generation like orthophotos, terrain models, point clouds, and 3D Digital Twins. It specialises in drone inspections of industrial assets and civil infrastructure.
The company claims to possess a comprehensive operating permit in the specific category and complies with European regulations, ensuring a commitment to legal and safety standards in its operations.
Aim of the acquisition
The takeover will allow TAUW to expand its expertise and offerings in the environmental and geospatial sectors, strengthening its position in the industry and providing more comprehensive solutions to its clients.
TAUW looks to take the next step in the field of data collection and data visualisations. The company serves both public and private clients, offering a wide array of services, from measurements and digital data collection to expert guidance.
Henry Raben, GM of TAUW Netherlands, says, “Digital solutions play an important role in our advice, they offer opportunities to work faster and more efficiently and to gain more insight into complex issues. We add value to data, which enables us to advise our clients even better.”
“GeoZICHT has acquired a good position in the market in a relatively short time, with a lot of knowledge, expertise and an impressive portfolio. A unique opportunity for TAUW to take data collection and data visualisations to the next level and thus add value to projects of our clients and partners,” adds Raben.
GeoZICHT will become a subsidiary of TAUW within the TAUW Group. André Evers will be the director and Bob van der Meij will serve as the operational manager for GeoZICHT.
The company’s business location will shift from Houten to TAUW’s office in Utrecht at Amerikalaan 5 as part of the acquisition, streamlining operations within TAUW.
