Last update:

Delft-based Tective Robotics, a startup specialising in automated data acquisition using a network of dronehubs, has raised fresh funding. The funding details, however, were undisclosed.

The investment came from Dutch-based venture capital firm Tenzing Alpha alongside SecFund.

The Ministry of Defence established the SecFund to enhance innovation in the Netherlands and is managed by The Brabant Development Agency (BOM). SecFund focuses on supporting advancements in areas like data transmission, low-noise technologies, and drones, promoting dual-use solutions with broad applications.

Enabling affordable and informed decision-making

Founded in 2023 by Mattijs Otten, Jeffrey Miog, and Frank van Veelen, Tective Robotics specialises in autonomous drone systems.

Tective Robotics develops dual-use autonomous drone systems designed to support decision-making in defence, emergency response, and agriculture.

The technology enhances situational awareness for defence operations, assists emergency workers in search and rescue efforts, and enables precision farming by optimising chemical use. The company aims to improve efficiency and resource management across these sectors.

Tective Robotics’ key product, SkyHive, functions as an airport for drones, enabling continuous operations with a battery-swapping system. It keeps up to five drones in the air 24/7, allowing high-resolution scanning of up to 100 square kilometres per day. A remote pilot oversees operations through a portal, receiving real-time data insights while reducing operational costs.

The company’s other products include SkyBase for automated perimeter monitoring, SkyFence for large-scale border mapping, and SkyScope for precision farming.

Capital utilisation

Tenzing Alpha mentions in a LinkedIn post, highlighting Tective Robotics’ role in redefining industries through autonomous drone technology. The investment aims to help the Dutch company scale its technology, expand market reach, and accelerate adoption across key sectors.

Tenzing Alpha says, “Our investment philosophy is about more than just providing capital—we partner with the companies we believe in. Tective exemplifies the innovative spirit we look for, transforming situational awareness with their autonomous drone systems.”

“Tective is transforming situational awareness with autonomous drone systems like SPEAR, SkyFence, SkyBase and Skyhive built for 24/7 security, border surveillance, and mobile recon. Their modular drone hubs set them apart, combining drones and automated deployment in one fully integrated platform.”
