Amsterdam-based impact investor The Sharing Group (TSG) has increased its stake in Drop Mobility to a majority share, aiming to accelerate the startup’s growth.

Drop Mobility, now part of The Sharing Group, joins other companies focused on sharing initiatives, including MyWheels, Mijndomein, EnergyZero, HomeZero, Hegg Energy, and Cargoroo.

Karen van den Boom, who joins Drop Mobility as a Director from The Sharing Group, says, “Drop Mobility’s electric shared bikes are a valuable piece of the puzzle in The Sharing Group’s chain strategy. The shared bikes offer the last-mile solution which many companies want to offer to their employees, visitors or guests, in addition to MyWheels’ shared cars.”

“We are looking forward to further developing our shared mobility offering with Drop Mobility, as it also ties in well with our Good Sharing philosophy.”

The collaboration focuses on expanding shared bicycle services for businesses in the Brainport area of Eindhoven (Netherlands) following the installation of 1,000 e-bikes for ASML.

Drop Mobility’s partnership with TSG

Founded in 2019, Drop Mobility assists companies and organisations, such as large business parks and campuses, in providing eco-friendly bike options for customers and visitors.

The company offers e-bikes and rental software that allows users to rent bikes through an app, eliminating the need for physical keys. Its subscriptions include insurance, software, maintenance, and services.

In 2022, Drop Mobility partnered with The Sharing Group after the latter acquired a minority stake, shifting its focus from public shared scooters to electric shared bicycles with docking stations. This initiative achieved an average of 17,000 rides per month, covering over 100,000 kilometres.

The Sharing Group supports Drop Mobility by providing market knowledge and expertise. Together, they aim to expand their business offerings, starting in Brainport Eindhoven.

Teun Verschuren, founder of Drop Mobility, says, “With The Sharing Group as majority shareholder, we are entering the next phase of our company with Drop.”

“We are now focusing on the mobility challenges of densely populated areas, where a shortage of parking spaces and grid congestion mean that cars do not always offer the right solution. We are proving this in Eindhoven, by working with companies to provide the ‘last mile’ of their employees and members with e-bikes.”

“Together with The Sharing Group, we are going to look for synergies between the various companies within the group,” adds Verschuren.
