Taxi2Airport, an Amsterdam-based online platform for airport transfers, has received €2.2 million growth capital from VOC Capital Partners and existing shareholder VentureBuilders Capital. Taxi2Airport will use the funding to accelerate their growth by reinforcing its business-to-business strategy (partnerships with travel platforms) and seizing further opportunities in Asia. The company strengthened the management team earlier this year with CEO Koen Bremer (ex-BCG and Ace&Tate) and CCO Mathijs Muijser (ex-Tiqets).
Taxi2Airport is a marketplace that matches travelers to medium-sized taxi companies globally. It has a network of over 5,000 connected taxi companies, and provides travelers worldwide with pre-booked airport transfers, a market of €10B+ worldwide.
Its continued growth is closely related in that of the global travel market, especially in Asia, and the increasing demand for taxi transfers worldwide, which is the result of a growing interest in ‘door-to-door’ travel by booking platforms and tour operators. Taxi2Airport is a supplier of choice for many of these operators because of its better quality, service and pricing. As a result, Taxi2Airport has been able to triple their turnover since 2016.
Koen Bremer, CEO of Taxi2Aiport, said, “As a result of our consistent growth, Taxi2Airport now has a solid base. With this new ‘smart capital’ on board, we have the means to accelerate our growth. Crucial in rapidly growing the business are partnerships with other travel platforms. For that reason, the partnerships team will be extended soon.”
Jan Willem Gerritsen, Partner at VOC Capital Partners, said, “Globally, the market for airport transfer will be divided in the coming years. With the team, platform and current partnerships, Taxi2airport has a strong starting position to become one of the global market leaders in this industry. We are proud and look forward to supporting Taxi2airport during this journey.”
The Amsterdam-based company is active in 170 countries and operates at over 100,000 destinations. Taxi2Airport’s mission is to make taxi transfers to and from airports surprisingly easy and comfortable, both for the traveller, the booking agency and the taxi company.
