Wrocław-based medtech startup Genomtec has developed an innovative mobile device that can detect deadly pathogens in just 20 minutes. The startup has been endowed with €2 million by the National Research and Development Centre through the flagship initiative – ‘Fast Path program’.
Genomtec – maintains the gold standard of molecular diagnostics
The device Genomtec ID determines the presence of pathogens by scrutinising specific DNA and RNA fragments. It can be applied to both humans and animals. Further, the technology is very significant for medical, agriculture, food processing industry and environmental contamination control.
Just 4 steps
Genomtec diagnostics process doesn’t require any expert help or laboratory to conduct tests. The whole test can be performed in four steps. At first, one needs to apply the biological material (blood, sputum, saliva, swab, body fluids, urine, CSF, tissue) to the reaction card.
Then, the test is to be run after placing the reaction card in the Genomtec device. Finally, the test results can be obtained in the user’s email ID within 20 minutes.
Genomtec was founded by Miron Tokarski in 2016. The fund infusion will allow Genomtec to expand its R&D team. Further, the medtech startup is looking forward to enable its device to diagnose Lyme disease, respiratory tract infections, cerebrospinal meningitis in children and staph infections.
