Accuron Technologies, a global precision engineering and technology group, has secured a controlling interest in Netherlands-based Trymax Semiconductor.

The sellers include private equity firm Pontex Investment Partners and Trymax founders Leo Meijer and Ludo Vandenberk. After the acquisition, both founders will continue to lead the company.

Trymax specialises in providing semiconductor manufacturers with advanced plasma-based solutions for photoresist removal, surface cleaning, isotropic etching, UV curing, and charge-erase applications used in chip fabrication.

Headquartered in Nijmegen, Netherlands, the privately held company also has regional offices in China, the US, and Italy.

Franck Marra, Partner at Pontex Investment Partners, says, “We are proud of the partnership between Pontex and Trymax which led to an impressive growth over the past 5 years and would like to thank Leo and Ludo as well as the whole management team for their incredible commitment and leadership.”

“We believe that the company is exceptionally well-positioned for continued success under the ownership of Accuron.”

Aim of the acquisition

The acquisition supports Accuron’s strategy to expand its semiconductor equipment portfolio, particularly in the Etch & Clean segment, while strengthening its presence in Europe and fostering collaboration within its group.

Pontex’s 2019 investment helped drive Trymax’s early growth by advancing technology, expanding its customer base, and increasing production capacity. Now, under Accuron’s ownership, Trymax is positioned for further global expansion, leveraging the group’s network, resources, and expertise to enhance its offerings and reach new markets.

Tan Kai Hoe, CEO and President of Accuron, says, “This acquisition is another important milestone for Accuron, enhancing our product offerings and geographical coverage in the semiconductor industry.”

“We look forward to welcoming the Trymax team into the Accuron family and working together to better serve our customers.”

Leo Meijer, CEO & founder of Trymax, adds, “Following a successful partnership with Pontex, we’re excited about joining forces with Accuron. This acquisition provides us with the support and expanded capabilities needed to accelerate our next stage of development.”

“The alignment with Accuron’s vision for the semiconductor industry will enable us to enhance our offerings and continue delivering exceptional value to our customers. We look forward to having continued success under this new partnership.”

After the acquisition, Accuron will support Trymax’s management to drive growth and maximise its potential. The existing leadership will stay in place, ensuring continuity and the successful execution of expansion plans.
