The announcement was made by Thomas Bunnik, co-founder and CEO, through a LinkedIn post.
” I’m proud to share that Whoppah has entered its next chapter: profitable growth. After years of relentless technological advancement, automation, and sharpening our effectiveness, we’ve built a healthy market leader,” says Bunnik.
Whoppah: Trusted marketplace for secondhand interior
Founded in 2019 by Thomas Bunnik and Evelien Remmelts, Whoppah is a marketplace for secondhand designer furniture, interior decor, and art.
“Profitable growth is more than a financial milestone,” said Thomas Bunnik, Co-Founder and CEO of Whoppah. “It proves that purpose and profitability can coexist, efficiency can be as powerful as expansion, and technology, when thoughtfully applied, compounds effectiveness over time,” he explains.
The company’s mission is to accelerate the reuse of items already made.
“The journey was anything but linear. Like many scale-ups, we first focused on growth, then on advancing our technology, and later on transforming that technology into sustainable efficiencies. Each stage demanded new skills, new decisions, and at times, tough trade-offs,” he adds.
By 2030, the Dutch company aims to ensure that one million secondhand design items have found new homes, marking a significant milestone in sustainable consumer behaviour.
Around this time last year, the Dutch company announced the acquisition of Design Market, a marketplace specialising in interior design and home furniture.
In addition to renowned brands like Vitra, Artifort, and Cassina, unique sculptures and paintings by various artists are also available for purchase.
Whoppah’s expertly curated selection ensures high quality, and their deliveries are handled with the utmost care by dedicated couriers.
