Last update:

Oslo-based Visma, a SaaS startup, in collaboration with Beeple, an online staff management tool, announced on Monday, that it has acquired Amsterdam-based clevergig, a SaaS Workforce Management platform.

The announcement came eight months after the acquisition of Beeple, a Belgian startup that allows coaching staff.

“With our commitment to providing the most user-friendly software on the market, we put all our work and time into developing the product based on customer needs and feedback. We have grown considerably, but our ambitions are greater. To realise these ambitions, we need extra support,” the company mentions in a blog.

The acquisition

Dutch-based clevergig provides its software to companies in healthcare and education to organise their planning, time registration, and invoicing processes.

While Beeple focuses on larger staffing agencies with complex processes, clevergig assists smaller staffing and recruitment agencies in matching temporary workers and freelancers to ad-hoc assignments.

The acquisition of clevergig by Visma allows Beeple to focus on serving the smaller segment of staffing and recruitment agencies, thereby expanding into a new market segment and reinforcing the growth objectives across the Benelux region.

Karel Rabaut, Managing Direct and Co-founder of Beeple, says “The merger will allow Beeple to serve a new market segment and accelerate organic growth throughout the Benelux region. Moreover, we see a big match in work culture between Beeple and clevergig regarding the company culture and flexible and remote way of working. The sales and customer success teams will be integrated to exchange knowledge and provide optimal service to customers.”

Post-acquisition, clevergig will continue to exist under the same name, logo, branding, and product development trajectory under its current  leadership.

The former management team, including Michel Pilet (CEO), Arnoud Visser (CCO), and Sergii Prykhodko (CTO), will remain with clevergig until 2024.

Pilet and Visser will focus on sales, while Beeple will assume full management responsibility.

Pilet says, “I always wanted to build something that does not depend on me as a person. That’s what I love about entrepreneurship, that you can build something that can eventually survive without you. It was always in my mind that it would not become a family business, which I would pass on to my son.”

“I am good at shaping a company in the startup phase. Once it’s up and running, someone else is better at continuing a business. When Visma approached us, the timing was perfect. It’s a nice party,” adds Pilet.
