Oslo-based Visma, a provider of business software to SMEs and the public sector, announced its expansion in the DACH region through the acquisitions of Köln-based milia.io and Aachen’s Taxy.io.

Founded in 2021 by Michel Menk and Tilman Walch, milia.io provides a platform for accounting offices that uses AI to facilitate client collaboration and automate internal workflows. The platform supports end-to-end processes and integrates with leading accounting systems.
Taxy.io is a spin-off of RWTH Aachen University was founded by Daniel Kirch, Sven Peper, and Steffen Kirchhoff in 2018. It provides AI software for B2B tax consulting. Its platform is used by over 1,500 tax firms and tax departments in Germany.
The AI tax assistant helps tax advisors handle complex tax inquiries and recently became the first digital assistant to pass the official tax advisor exam.
Aim of the acquisition
The aim of Visma’s acquisition of milia.io and Taxy.io is to expand its AI-driven automation capabilities for tax and accounting firms and to create opportunities for growth.
milia.io will join Visma to advance its platform for tax and accounting automation.
