Meet the winners of the first edition of NL Startup Competition: All you need to know

NL Startup Competition, an event focused on emerging entrepreneurs and startups, has announced the winners of its inaugural edition.

Organised by Upstream, MT/Sprout, Golden Egg Check, and Erasmus Enterprise, this event provided an opportunity for emerging businesses to showcase their ideas and compete for a prize of €10,000.

After presentations from 16 finalists, the jury panel selected a startup in each of the four categories.

The winners of the NL Startup Competition are as follows:

  • Social: Marjolein van Tilburg for ChatLicense (Chatlicense is an engaging and educational app designed for kids, teenagers, and parents, where they can experience a scientific learning method through gameplay and earn diplomas.)
  • Digital: Chanel Sam for I See U Baby care (I See U Baby Care is a startup working to minimize sleep deficiencies for babies.)
  • Energy Transition: Daniel Buhagiar for FLASC B.V – FLASC is a start-up working on non-battery energy storage for offshore applications.
  • Circular: Linda Klunder for Kumasi Drinks (Kumasi Drinks is a soft drink company that develops a variety of 100 per cent natural, nutritious, and delicious drinks from extra cocoa juice.)

A brief about the organisers

Upstream Festival provides a space for startups and scaleups to make the connections they need to thrive and build companies that change the world for the better.  

Since the first edition in 2020, Upstream has welcomed more than 9000 startups, scale-ups, investors, buyers, and other changemakers who share, connect, and create meaningful innovations for sustainable growth.

Golden Egg Check is a startup analyst company leveraging data, insights, and a robust network within the Dutch tech and VC ecosystem. The company’s mission is to propel the Netherlands to the forefront of European startup ecosystems. 

GEC assesses the potential, feasibility, and investor readiness of companies, employing the perspective of venture capital investors. 

Erasmus Enterprise is the entrepreneurial community based out of the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) campus. 

By combining the regional expertise on incubation and acceleration, the community will enable students, graduates, academics, employees, regional professionals, and alums to access and engage in entrepreneurial ventures (startups). 

MT/Sprout is a marketing and advertising agency based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. They specialize in content marketing and publish newsletters about startups, business insights, and achieving a better work-life balance.
