American-British tech company, Vuzix Corporation (VUZI), a manufacturer of AR smart glasses, has announced a partnership with Verizon and Rotterdam-based startup, Zoi Meet. As part of Verizon’s 5G labs, this collaboration is making a debut as one of the first in the market to support multilingual communication through AR technology.
Zoi Meet is a communication platform that uses unique AI technology to transform real-time audio into text. Through deep learning methods, the team trains micro-engines for organizations and industries to provide a high degree of accuracy for transcribing important conversations and audio files.
From July 2019, the Zoi Meet software will be available as an app on the Vuzix Blade Smart Glasses. This allows users to communicate hands-free, in multiple languages, while the speech is automatically transformed into text that can be seen on the display in the lens of the glasses.
“Spoken language is an integral part of communication and bringing real-time live multilingual transcription services to smart glasses really levels the communication playing field for everyone. This application can be utilized by individuals and business travellers alike communicating with others on a daily basis,” said Paul Travers, President and Chief Executive Officer at Vuzix.
“The demand for an improvement in communication is enormous, so great that we even provided Prince Constantijn with live transcripts in Japan. We are proud to see that young startups from the Netherlands can grow in such an accelerated pace. After our participation in the Techstars program and Plug and Play Japan we see this collaboration with Vuzix and Verizon as a new milestone. “Says Kevin Oranje, CEO of Zoi Meet.
The Zoi Meet application is expected to be available for download on the Vuzix App Store in July 2019. A beta version was demonstrated live at Vuzix’ annual stockholder meeting in Rochester, NY on June 13, 2019.
