Meet the 12 Dutch startups that have won the CES Innovation Award 

Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the largest global tech fair, will happen in Las Vegas from January 9-12, 2024.

Among the 70 Dutch startups participating in CES this year, 12 have been recognised with prestigious Innovation Awards. These awards mean startups have created some of the best designs, innovations, and products in their respective tech categories. 

The jury responsible for selecting the winners consists of experts from large American tech companies like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon and experienced journalists from TechCrunch, Engadget, and BBC.

The Winning Dutch Startups

The following Dutch startups have been honoured with CES Innovation Award:

• Axelera: Axelera AI has developed the world’s most efficient and sophisticated edge AI solutions. It offers Edge AI solutions through its Metis AI platform.
• Doser: Doser aims to empower pharmacists to provide personalised therapy to patients through innovative solutions. The company achieves this through DoseRx1, a desktop-style drug printer with a state-of-the-art compounding system. This system gives modern pharmacists access to pharmaceutical 3D printing technology, which enables them to create personalised medicines faster.
• Focus: By leveraging the power of AI, FOCUS provides comprehensive tech intelligence, comparative analyses, and data-driven forecasting. With FOCUS, you can make informed decisions, predict future performance, and stay ahead of the competition.
• Healthplus.ai: Provides artificial intelligence tools to solve medical and health-related challenges. The company’s AI-driven risk assessment, almost immediately after surgery, enables more proactive decision-making, monitoring, and treatment. It is an improvement to reduce the impact and cost of post-surgery complications.
• InkInvent: Ink Invent is an innovative effect pigment manufacturer. The company specialises in developing RheoLight Crystal Glass Pigments for functional use of colors and creating luxurious and dynamic light color shades.
• LV Energy: The startup has patented a technology to convert sound waves into usable electrical energy.
• Mantispectra: Working on a small spectral chip that can accurately measure material properties in real-time and can be mass-produced. 
• Naya: It has designed a thin modular split keyboard to facilitate seamless and intuitive technology interactions. Naya’s modular split keyboard is a customizable, ergonomic device that offers modularity and programmability, putting users at the center of the creative process.
• Sevvy: Sevvy is a food technology company that has developed a patented pulsed electric field-based heating technology that enables fast food preparation at low temperatures. 
• SlimDesign: A design agency that develops consumer electronics for multinationals and startups. They created PhoneCam, the World’s first low-cost, miniaturised AI bodycam.
• Susphos: Developing a new circular method to produce sustainable phosphate products from wastewater
• Whispp: Developing AI speech technology that converts whispered speech into a person’s natural voice in real-time, including the intended intonation and emotion.

These startups cover a diverse range of industries and have developed innovative solutions that caught the jury’s attention. 

The Dutch government plans to increase support for startups and scale-ups in the upcoming year.

Therefore, five detailed ambitions have been established for: 

• More funding and better access to market capital
• Sufficient available talent
• A higher number of tech jobs
• More growth to scale-ups
• Focus on knowledge-intensive startups

Minister Micky Adriaansens (Economic Affairs and Climate) says, “In the past seven years, Dutch startups have participated in the CES in an organized manner. For quite a lot of these growth companies, this was their breakthrough. I am convinced of the Dutch level of knowledge and our innovative power. And these awards confirm that again.”
