What type of guest contributions are we looking for:
1. Guest contributions about a particular domain/industry in the European technology and startup ecosystem. Give us your opinion, clear and thought-provoking!
2. Informative advice-based how-to, listicle-based articles for entrepreneurs, investors, or innovators to help them navigate issues and situations they face daily. Think beyond “5 tips for your startup to do scale”, though.
4. Stories highlighting learnings and challenges faced during a personal journey as an entrepreneur or investor.
5. Articles on current affairs, sector updates, forecasts, or topics that call for intelligent/thought-provoking conversation about the European startup ecosystem.
6. Non-commercial, non-promotional in nature; hence, it shouldn’t mention the author’s brand/company in any form or via an issue that can be solved directly or indirectly with a feature or product of the author.
Editorial guidelines for guest contributions
1. Again, ensure that the article is not a promotional piece. It should not promote any particular brand, person or brand associated with the author directly or indirectly.
2. The article should be original, exclusive, unpublished work, submitted as a Word document (.doc or .doc), or a Google Doc, of 600-800 words.
3. Make sure the headline is catchy and not lengthy.
4. Keep it simple. Avoid unnecessary jargon and statistics. This is an online magazine, not a science journal.
5. The articles should have a proper introduction, body, and conclusion divided into subheadings. There should be a flow or connection between all three sections. Also, ensure paragraphs are short, max. 2 sentences.
6. Please add proper references and linkbacks. But please limit the outbound links to a maximum of 3. NB: We attribute the links to rel=”ugc” per Google’s guidelines.
7. Check your grammar. We recommend Grammarly; get a one-month premium subscription for free.
8. We use British English and the Associated Press style.
9. Ensure the content is not plagiarised. Plagiarism is an unlawful act, a violation of copyright, and a criminal offence under Dutch law. Check for it with Plagiarism Check!
10. Silicon Canals’ editorial team always reserves the right to edit for clarity and length, refuse the content at any submission stage, or retract after publication.
11. The author is responsible for delivering a short bio (max 2-3 sentences) highlighting the author’s expertise and a profile image.
12. The author takes full responsibility for the content and its origin; Silicon Canals will list a disclaimer.
13. We do not accept AI-generated content as we consider it plagiarism and copyright infringement.
