Striking presence of these 5 Dutch tech startups puts Kaunas, Lithuania big on map

Lately, Kaunas has been working hard to seek attention from foreign investors, however, now it seems to be paying off. In the past couple of years alone, reportedly 5 of the Dutch companies have established their offices in Kaunas, Lithuania giving employment to around seventy native programmers.

Kaunas makes it big!

Having said that, the major credits goes to KTU, a large technical university in the city that provides as many engineers as possible to the Dutch companies who are in need of trained personals.

In addition to it, there are other benefits Dutch companies enjoys including just one-hour time difference, convenient flight connections, English speaking population and no major cultural differences.

According to Minister for Foreign Trade Sigrid Kaag and representatives of other Dutch companies, Lithuania has shrunk from 3.3 million inhabitants to 2.8 million in a span of 10 years as the young people are leaving to countries like Norway and U.K for a job opportunity.

Kaag also said that these Dutch companies hope to form a reason to return. Below is the list of 5 Dutch IT companies, who established their office in Kaunas.

#1 Hyarchis

Hyarchis has registered its subsidiary Hyarchis Baltic in Vilnius. The company has moved few of its key activities and will use Kaunas as n hub to launch its products suite in Nordic and Baltic markets.

The companies in both Lithuania and Netherlands will be headed by Andre van der Doelen. For the uninitiated, Hyarchis develops and sells business communication and document management software, which is used by over 55,000 clients worldwide.

#2 Meridia

Headquartered in Amsterdam, Meridia is the second company to expand its presence in Kaunas. Previously called as Landmapp, the company has developed a technology that helps the small-scale farmers to obtain land rights in an attempt to strengthen their economic background. This company also has its presence in Ghana and Indonesia. Currently, Meridia employs around 30 ppl across the world and is currently looking for a specialist in Kaunas.

#3 Geophy

This Dutch tech company aims to revolutionize the real estate market through Big Data by building an Artificial Intelligence. Co-founded by Teun van den Dries (CEO) and Sander Mulders (CTO), their proprietary data management platform offers instant and highly accurate valuations by integrating thousands of unique data sources about the built environment, combined with advanced algorithms. Having said that, both GeoPhy and Meridia are already firmly established in Lithuania’s second city.

#4 Centric

Centric, a Dutch IT company, has started a division in Kaunas, Lithuania, where it will focus on technical engineering, managed services, infrastructure and cloud engineering. Furthermore, the Kaunas division will be working closely with international counterparts in the Benelux, Scandinavia, and Romania thereby becoming a part of the service desk teams that support international customers as well.

The company is planning to employ over 200 specialists over the next three years. For the unknown, Centric is a leading provider of software solutions, IT outsourcing, BPO and IT staffing solutions in Europe, supporting both public and private sectors.

#5 Convious

Convious is yet another Dutch IT company to make its presence in Lithuania. The company has opened a research and experimental development center in Vilnius. This innovative startup uses A.I to learn from users and adapt to the needs and market.

Moreover, the company enables Marketing and Business professionals to understand their audience, engage better, and convert more by continuously testing and improving every step in their sales. Founded by Camiel Kraan, Kevin Westermeijer in 2016, the company has raised a total funding amount of €3.6M.
