9 coolest robots that were seen at CES 2020

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is always exciting with every passing year. This year, the CES 2020 has been the most interesting one in recent times covering a wide range of technologies including IoT, Wi-Fi 6, automation, blockchain, 5G, Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and many. It was a show floor for numerous weird gadgets and robotic solutions. In fact, it wont be an exaggeration to say that the tech show witnessed a significant number of robots from numerous markets across the world.

Detailing on robots that dominated the CES 2020, we saw unique ones such as a toilet paper robot and the world’s first Artificial Human. This makes us believe that the conference has laid a foundation for the progress of the robotic industry. Having said that, here we have curated some interesting robots that were showcased at the conference in Las Vegas.

Samsung’s Ballie robot

Samsung’s Ballie is a compact life companion that is as small as a tennis ball. It is a round rolling robot designed to support, understand, and react to the owners’ needs in household. Ballie deploys Artificial Intelligence, sensors, and data within the home to leave users with immersive experiences. Notably, Ballie can connect with other smart devices for an improved everyday life.

Charmin’s RollBot

The RollBot, which is a collaborative result of Procter & Gamble and Charmin’s GoLab as grabbed a lot of attention at the CES 2020. It is a RollBot that delivers toilet paper to those stuck in positions without a roll. It resembles a cartoon bear with wheels and has infrared sensors to make it move towards humans who need toilet paper. Though RollBot can bring the toilet paper to a user, it cannot retrieve the same automatically.

Sarcos’ Guardian XO

Sarcos, a robotics company came up with the Guardian XO super suit at the tech conference. It is a robotic exoskeleton that is meant to be worn by workers letting them life heavy loads of over 100 pounds using natural body movements. It will find potential use in handling freight in Delta Cargo warehouses and lifting heavy machinery. In addition to boosting productivity, this industrial exoskeleton is touted to reduce injuries.

Samsung NEON

Apart from Ballie, Samsung showcased the first artificial human called NEON at CES 2020. The NEON can show emotions similar to a human with the help of Artificial Intelligence. It is an interface to the internet, claims the company. It can react, converse, and sympathise as humans do in daily lives. The Samsung NEON is powered by CORE R3, a proprietary tech platform, which stands for Reality, Realtime, and Responsive. This is just a preview and we will get to know more about it at the NEON World 2020 later this year.

PuduTech’s BellaBot

The Chinese company PuduTech came up with BellaBot, which is a robotic waiter. It has a digital cat face display along with meowing abilities. It is a friendly robot with four-layer trays, multiple delivery functions, navigation systems, and positions. The BellaBot’s fact changes expressions in many ways when it reacts with people. There is a tactile feedback system that makes it life-like. The BellaBot delivery robot is likely to carry 120 small plates, 33 bowls, and 39 large plates.

Groove X’s LOVOT

LOVOT is a huggable robot from Groove X, which is a CES 2020 Innovation Award Product honouree. The company’s LOVOT is a blend of a bear and an own with a warm and soft body, which lets users to hug and pet. It can move around the home autonomously and act a source of happiness and provide emotional support to users. The LOVOT app can take photos of users when they smile, serve as a baby monitor, create a diary of interactions, and patrol the house as well.

Pollen Robotics’ Reachy

Pollen Robotics has showcased a robotic torso called Reachy, which is a bio-inspired robotic prosthesis. Reachy features two arms, a head, and chest. Pollen Robotics’ offering is an open-source interactive robot that explores real-world applications. It is priced at €15,300 for a full half-body and €8,100 for a standalone arm. The French company’s offering is something that is similar to Pepper.

MarsCat by Elephant Robotics

MarsCat is a bionic pet cat developed by Elephant Robotics. It is similar to a real cat and is completely responsive to interactions and autonomous. MarsCat has the ability to feel touch, see faces, hear voices, and play with toys. MarsCat, the robotic kitty is powered by a quad-core Raspberry Pi.

Qoobo therapeutic robot

The Qoobo therapeutic robot was unveiled at the CES 2020 in Las Vegas. It is a cushion with a tail that will wave gently when someone caresses it. When it is rubbed, the Qoobo robot will swing its tail playfully. Moreover, the therapeutic robot will wag its tail occasionally to say hello to users.
