Amsterdam-based Whoppah, a marketplace for interior items, has acquired Showroommodellen, a Dutch platform that lists showroom models of designer furniture.
Showroommodellen’s platform provides access to items from more than 500 international brands. It offers furniture, lighting, and accessories from sales partners in the Netherlands and Belgium. The company also provides delivery and purchase terms, including a two-year warranty and the option to cancel orders before delivery.
Aim of the acquisition
The latest acquisition brings Showroommodellen users onto the Whoppah platform, where their items will be listed for an international audience. The integration allows retailers across Europe to sell showroom items through Whoppah. Retailers can list showroom items on Whoppah at no cost.
Whoppah co-founders, Thomas Bunnik and Evelien Bunnik-Remmelts, mention, “All current showroommodellen users will be welcomed on Whoppah and their items will be published on our international stage, enabling sellers and buyers to benefit from great reach and our highly advanced technologies. Showroommodellen and the many retailers who trust it created a meaningful solution.”
“We are committed to protect what is unique and amplify what can prosper together. Because our purpose goes beyond resale. It’s about reshaping consumption. It’s about proving that great design doesn’t need to be new to feel new. It’s about a future where circular is not just better for the planet, but it’s better business.”
Since its launch in 2019, Whoppah has expanded into 16 countries and sold items totalling almost €250M in retail value at secondhand prices. The company acquired Design Market in France last year, added AI tools to its platform, and became profitable in September 2025.
Brief about Whoppah
Founded in 2019 by Evelien and Thomas Bunnik, Whoppah operates a platform for buying and selling second-hand designer furniture and interior items. The company connects over one million users and lists items from private and professional sellers across Europe.
Whoppah’s mission is to increase the reuse of existing design items. The company aims to make second-hand design a standard choice and plans to ensure that one million items have been resold by 2030.
The platform provides tools for buyers and sellers, including secure payments and logistics solutions. Buyers can browse collections from individuals and businesses, while sellers can reach a broad audience. Whoppah also offers customer support for transactions and logistics.
