Stockholm-based Norrsken VC, which pledged €300M to startups using AI earlier this year, is launching Fixathon, an AI-for-good hackathon in collaboration with Spotify, Lovable, Google, NVIDIA, Advania, and The Riksbank, Sweden’s central bank.

The event aims to bring together a global community to develop AI solutions for climate, health, food, education, and social challenges.

Fixathon will run from December 1 to 6, with events in Stockholm, Kigali, Barcelona, Amsterdam, in collaboration with AI for Impact Collective, and San Francisco, in partnership with Swenode.AI.

Participants will work on real-world problems with guidance from technology platforms, mentors, and public sector partners.

The initiative builds on Norrsken’s ecosystem, which connects more than 50,000 founders, funders, and builders, to support startups applying AI to societal issues.

Tove Larsson, General Partner, Norrsken VC, says, “AI is the most powerful tool humanity has ever created, and we’ve only just begun to tap its potential. Recent breakthroughs have changed not only which problems we can tackle, but how we build, test and deploy solutions.”

“With the Fixathon, our goal is to mobilise the next generation of AI-native entrepreneurs to take full advantage of this shift and build solutions to real problems – problems with massive unmet need and long-term demand.”

Fixathon to advance AI solutions

Fixathon is an event designed to support entrepreneurs who use AI to work on social and environmental issues.

Anton Osika, founder & CEO at Lovable, says, “AI is levelling the playing field. At Lovable, by making the hardest parts of software development simple, we let everyone turn their idea into reality. That changes who gets to bring their innovations to life. Before, you needed money, engineers and time. Now, you just need a clear idea and curiosity. Fixathon is a great way to show what that future looks like in action.”

Fixathon participants will work within five challenge tracks: fix the planet with AI, improve our health with AI, make AI safe, build a smarter economy with AI, and modernise public services with AI. Each track focuses on the development and deployment of AI-driven solutions.

Winners in each track will receive coaching sessions, access to Norrsken entrepreneur hubs, and support from partners offering tools, compute, and infrastructure for post-event growth.

A jury of investors, researchers, policy leaders, and industry figures will review the solutions.

Brief about Norrsken

Norrsken is a non-profit foundation founded by Niklas Adalberth. The organisation focuses on entrepreneurship and technology as drivers of solutions to global challenges. Its mission is to support entrepreneurs by giving them access to knowledge, capital, and networks.

Norrsken operates Norrsken House hubs in Barcelona, Kigali, and Stockholm. Its five investment vehicles, including Norrsken VC, Norrsken22, Norrsken Accelerator, Norrsken Launcher, and Norrsken Africa Seed Fund, have raised more than $750M to finance founders who pursue commercial and global-impact goals.

Norrsken is funded through membership fees, returns from its funds, contributions from partners, and donations. As a non-profit foundation, it does not distribute financial gains to the organisation or its founder, and any surplus is reinvested into new initiatives.
