Last update:

Amsterdam-based Adyen, a company offering a platform that integrates gateway, risk management, processing, acquiring, and settlement of payments, announced on Thursday the launch of its first in-house designed terminals.

The terminal range, which runs on Adyen’s single platform, was developed to support a variety of payment use cases and is the most recent development in Adyen’s commercial offering.

COO at Adyen, Kamran Zaki, says, “Adyen’s commitment is to help businesses realise their ambitions faster, and creating our own terminals is the latest way we’re delivering on this promise. We always innovate based on customer feedback to deliver superior experiences with speed and flexibility. With our in-person payments offering, businesses have a full suite of terminals to choose from, enabling them to pick the best one to meet their specific needs.”

More about the terminal range

The first terminal in the suite is the NYC1, which is the “most” affordable and flexible device within the in-person payment range. With the help of the gadget, businesses may provide a completely unique payment flow via their own point-of-sale software. Adyen says that this device is ideal for companies who have already invested in hardware, such as phones or tablets, and want to expand their setup to include payments.

The NYC1 terminal is currently available in North America, and coverage will extend to other regions soon.

Adyen’s second device is the AMS1, an all-in-one terminal with an Android operating system that businesses can use to accept payments as well as run their own business applications. Store staff may access their cash register, manage their inventory, and collect payments on a single smartphone by combining their applications. It provides the same advantages as the NYC1 while streamlining daily operations.

The terminal will be made available everywhere later this year, starting in Europe and North America.
