In general, even the best ideas can’t be realised without any capital. Acquiring capital can be a daunting task, but it is an essential part of starting and growing the business.
At present, many events bring many entrepreneurs from various places under one roof in a way they can connect, share and network. One such event is Amsterdam Capital Week.
Back in 2015, Amsterdam Capital Week was first organised in an attempt to create a closed ecosystem that supports the growth of the founders and entrepreneurs shaping up the future.
In the latest development, Amsterdam Capital Week celebrated its fifth edition from September 23-25 in Capital C in Amsterdam. During this event, more than 95 deals were made between investors, corporate and startups. Additionally, visitors were offered opportunities for personal and professional growth in more than 50 different sessions.
95 deals in ‘Deals over dinner’
In this edition, a significant part of the program was dedicated to corporate-startup tie-ups. In a dedicated session ‘Deals over Dinner’, co-hosted by The Next Web around 95 deals were made.
Among other deals, Startup Healthy Workers made 3 promising deals with Randstad, ABN AMRO Clearing Bank, and SAP. On the other hand, the kick-off of the KVK Business Challenge also took place during the event. During the coming two weeks, startups can still apply with their business solution to six different corporate challenges via the KVK website.
Corporate Venture Program
Jan Willem van Boeckel, the founder of beauty platform Treatwell, shared his experience in the ‘Corporate Venture Program’ helping corporates getting their ventures up to speed: โTeam up with each other for speed, less decision layers and a committed, different mindset.โ
Matchmaking for startups and investors
Around 50 international investors from England, US and Austria joined Capital Tour at Night. This tour facilitates next-level matchmaking for startups and investors across Amsterdamโ bars. It was opened by entrepreneur and newest VC partner at Peak Capital Jacqueline van den Ende.
Van den Ende, said:
Talking to 25 startups in 4 hours was very intense but worth the effort. It is a great and informal way to get an impression of the potential of a startup.
Stine Carle won the competition
The last day of the event was celebrated with a โGiving Back Breakfastโ at the Mayorโs Residence. Groups of executives, such as Saskia Bosch from KVK and Edward Bos from Liberty Global, and scale-up founders were invited for personal mentor sessions.
With more activities focused on โgiving backโ throughout the city, such as The House Awards, co-hosted with Symbid. Five social impact startups pitched to a Jury of 10 experts and investors, to win a potential funding campaign. Stine Carle from AMMP won the competition.
