Amsterdam’s climate VC Carbon Equity bags €60M, after raising €100M in March 2024

Amsterdam-based Carbon Equity, a climate venture capital, and private equity investment platform, on Thursday, June 27, announced the “strong first close” of its Climate Tech Portfolio Fund III at raised €60M. 

Climate Tech Portfolio Fund III, launched earlier this year, has a target of €125M and a maximum of €200M.

The Dutch VC arranged the latest funds from 160 high-net-worth investors, reports to Business Insider Netherlands. This round’s investors include Edmond Hilhorst, founder of Independer, Coen van Oostrom from Edge Technologies, and Saskia Bruysten from Yunus Social Business.

“Climate Tech Portfolio Fund III will invest in 7-10 of the world’s most exciting climate technology venture capital and private equity funds across Europe and the US,” states Jacqueline van den Ende, co-founder and CEO of Carbon Equity, in her LinkedIn post. 

Business Insider Nederland reports that the investor aims to invest this capital in at least 150 tech companies focusing on climate technology, through both European and American PE and VC funds. 

This could include companies working on green hydrogen, CO2-free cement, and battery and protein technologies, according to Carbon Equity.

The announcement comes two months after raising €100M through its Climate Tech Portfolio Fund II. 

To date, Carbon Equity has raised €250M from 900 investors, including prominent entrepreneurs, c-level executives, private equity professionals, family offices, and institutional investors.

Currently, the Dutch VC has invested in over 120 tech companies, accounting for €1.7B in sales so far.
