Amsterdam-based Lemni, a startup specialised in developing AI-powered customer experience platforms, has officially launched and announced it has raised $3.5M (approximately €3.3M) in a pre-seed funding round led by Sequoia.
Based out of California, Sequoia Capital is a VC firm that invests in startups in the energy, financial, enterprise, healthcare, internet, and mobile industries.
“Building great product experiences starts with strong founders—that’s why we’re delighted to partner with Krijn and Alex on their journey,” says Julien Bek, Partner Sequoia Capital
The round has also seen participation from Designer Fund, Frank Slootman, Scott Belsky, Arthur Mensch, Koen Bok, Jorn van Dijk, Christian Reber, Niklas Jansen, Mario Götze, and others.
The fund will assist the startup in accelerating product growth, expanding its team, and delivering its solution to more businesses globally.
What does Lemni solve?
Customer service often has problems like automated replies, long wait times, and repetitive chatbot interactions.
Many companies limit access to live support by hiding phone numbers, restricting email communication, and using chatbots with scripted answers.
Although this can save on customer service costs, it often frustrates customers and doesn’t solve their problems effectively.
And here’s where Lemni comes in!
Lemni: Helping companies with AI agents
Co-founded by Alex Buis and Krijn Rijshouwer, Lemni’s AI agents offer an alternative by providing businesses with digital assistants that operate from a single source of truth for each customer.
The company does this by setting up custom AI agents for each customer, giving them an immediate understanding of the entire history.
This means that every interaction begins where the last one ended, eliminating the need for customers to repeat themselves.
The company aims to enhance customer interactions with real-time knowledge and actionable insights, enabling every engagement to feel personal and efficient.
One of Lemni’s core goals is to make AI-driven customer service solutions more accessible to businesses of all sizes.
Traditionally, implementing AI agents has been a costly and time-consuming process, often requiring months of development and extensive sales negotiations.
Lemni is changing that by offering AI agents that can be deployed in minutes rather than months, providing businesses with full control over their customer interactions.
The company has a unique pricing model to make its products more accessible.
They sell their main product at a cost price and earn money from optional add-ons. This way, businesses can improve their customer experience without spending too much.
“We believe businesses can grow without losing their ability to care. With the big advancements in AI we now have the tools to solve things. With Lemni, you can set up custom AI agents that work from a single source of truth for each customer, giving them an immediate understanding of the entire history. That way every customer interaction begins where the last one ended. No more starting from scratch, no more repeating yourself—just one continuous conversation,” says Krijn Rijshouwer.
