London-based Anamcara Capital, a new pre-/seed stage fund that invests in European B2B businesses with angel-sized cheques, announced on Thursday that it has launched a $10.6M (approximately €9.76M) fund.
The fund has already backed 11 businesses in different parts of Europe. They include Noloco, a no-code web app builder; Nory, a tool for hotel administration; and Trumpet, a sales enablement platform.
Anamcara has co-invested with well-known investors like La Famiglia VC, Cherry Ventures, Cavalry Ventures, and Salesforce Ventures.
Anamcara: Everything you need to know
Anamcara says its goal is to back ‘exceptional’ founders of B2B businesses and establish lasting relationships to support their success.
The firm was founded in 2021 by Annelie Ajami, a former venture partner at B&Y Venture Partners with over 10 years of experience in asset management.
Ajami is joined by Operations Manager, Aakriti Singh, who was previously Assistant Manager at EY London and Grant Thornton, and a strong advisory network of operators including Gary Turner, co-founder of Xero.
Anamcara writes tickets of nearly $200K in pre-seed and seed-stage B2B companies across Europe. The fund uses a ‘strong’ operator advisory network with deep subject knowledge to support the portfolio and has a strong theme emphasis.
B2B entrepreneurs like Philip Reynolds, the former VP of engineering at Workday, Maria McMenamin, the former head of B2B sales at Stripe, and Namrata Ganatra, the CTO at Autograph are part of this network.
About the new fund
Anamcara claims to put its founders first and worries a lot about being a collaborator to them, from helping with syndication to new employees.
With the new fund, the firm aims to work with founding teams who possess subject ideas, technological proficiency, and product knowledge.
Annelie Ajami says, “Digitisation is essential in driving resiliency, global supply chains, and productivity. Given the role of technology, businesses are now able to rethink practices, operations and the way they serve their customers.”
“As a thematic fund, we have a “prepared mind” when it comes to investing in this space and engaging with important stakeholders to develop views on forces that can shape the sector.”
“We invest in founders who have identified a massive market opportunity and who are determined to build category leaders in this space. Through our category expertise and strong investor and operator network, we help our companies build foundations for accelerated growth and international expansion,” adds Ajami.
