Amsterdam-based The Mobile Company, a firm that designs and develops web apps and mobile apps, announced on Thursday, November 24, that it has been acquired by Manchester-based Apadmi, a mobile tech company that improves operations and implements solutions using mobile.
The companies now form the largest independent team of mobile specialists in the Netherlands, the UK and Europe. The combined team has 250 engineers, designers and digital product experts, providing a foundation for further international growth.
The Mobile Company brand, which boasts ABN-Amro, McCain and Van Oord among its clients, will remain in place along with the existing management team.
Grow your mobile business
The Mobile Company is a full-service digital agency that claims to create the best mobile apps possible for millions of users. The company was founded in 1998 and distinguishes itself in developing solutions for growth with a focus on an agile way of working and data.
After the acquisition, The Mobile Company’s existing leadership team will continue to manage the current business independently, with extra support from the Apadmi Group to deliver further growth.
Kees Van Mourik, CEO of The Mobile Company, says, “With our expertise in mobile and digital products, as well as similarities in client base, delivering work across travel, lifestyle, financial services, energy and healthcare, this is a fantastic step forward as we look to grow together.”
Aim of the acquisition
Apadmi claims to be a player with high growth ambitions who has experienced growth of 65 per cent during the past two years. Its goal for the next five years is to develop into a global player with 1,500 professionals in five markets. This acquisition is the first significant step in that direction.
With customers such as Co-op, NHS, BBC, Domino’s Pizza, and Chelsea FC, Apadmi has cemented its position as a leader in the development of digital products for both mobile and the web.
Apadmi CEO Garry Partington says, “We are thrilled to be joining forces with The Mobile Company. From the first time we met, the fit between the two companies was what excited us. We both blend creativity with engineering excellence to create amazing solutions, solving complex problems for our clients. It’s an exciting time at Apadmi and this is the first step of our move into other markets.”
Along with its headquarters in Manchester, Apadmi also established operations in Edinburgh and Lisbon earlier this year. Apadmi now enters the thriving Western European market thanks to The Mobile Company’s location in Amsterdam.
Apadmi’s M&A Director, Jasper van de Luijtgaarden, adds, “Many businesses are well progressed with their digital transformation journeys, but with an extended team of digital product experts now in Amsterdam, we are well-placed to support that process across Europe.”
