Paris-based Bene Bono, a startup rescuing aesthetically rejected organic produce by major supermarkets, announced via a LinkedIn post that it has secured €10M in a fresh round of funding.
The investment came from AVP (AXA Venture Partners) and 2050, alongside existing investors Stride.VC and Project A Ventures.
François Robinet, founder & managing partner at AVP, mentions in a LinkedIn post, “Very happy to join the Bene Bono adventure and to help Grégoire Carlier, Sven Ripoche and Claire Laurent and their team write the next chapter of the story of this great company.”
“We are also very proud, as well as the entire AVP team, to contribute to this project that should inspire us all. Waste is a modern scourge. What Bene Bono is doing to fight him is remarkable and challenging! Try the Bene Bono adventure and open the app, you won’t be disappointed!”
Capital utilisation
Bene Bono says this fundraising signals optimism amid challenging times for organic and venture capital.
The French company will use the funds to expand the range of rescued products and develop the Bene Bono range to address waste issues upstream.
The funds will also help the company grow the community and enhance the subscriber experience in France and Spain. The company aims to reduce its carbon footprint by minimising packaging and delivery impact.
In a LinkedIn post translated from French, Bene Bono says, “Every week, tens of thousands of you receive pasta, fruit, toothpaste and vegetables saved from waste. Without you, we wouldn’t have come all this way (spare a thought for the 4000 tons you saved!).”
The anti-waste of good products
Founded in 2020 by Grégoire Carlier, Sven Ripoche and Claire Laurent, Bene Bono provides a platform for French farmers and manufacturers to sell products rejected by traditional channels due to aesthetic or logistical reasons.
Bene Bono claims to stand out as a unique platform in France and Spain, catering to eco-conscious consumers committed to sustainability without compromising savings or product quality.
The startup has 23,000 regular consumers in key regions, including Île-de-France, Lyon, Marseille, Lille, Toulouse, and Bordeaux. It is financially supported by funds and business angels.
Currently expanding geographically and diversifying its product range, the company offers over 400 committed references spanning food, hygiene, beauty, and maintenance.
Operating upstream in the value chain, Bene Bono aims for a sustainable impact on waste-related issues in France and Europe.
