Frederiksberg-based Bemakers, a Danish distribution partner for ambitious alcohol brands, announced that it has secured €3.5M in a seed round of funding.
Morten Stengaard, CEO and co-founder of Bemakers, says, “We’re excited to close this funding round, and truly appreciate the continued support from our investors. This investment will enable us to expand distribution channels into more new markets, thereby helping our brand partners reach a wider audience.”
“More importantly, it supports our goal of making the beverage industry more efficient while empowering brand owners and distributors.”
Helping alcohol brands seeking global growth
Bemakers is a partner for alcohol brands looking to expand globally. The company makes distribution easier by automating tasks like excise duties, taxes, customs, and shipping. This allows brands to focus on making and marketing their products.
By simplifying industry processes and using AI-driven systems, Bemakers focuses on efficiency and innovation. Its business model includes a flexible monthly subscription for core services.
Bemakers will present its platform at the Bar Convent Berlin (BCB), where it will connect with new and existing brand partners and trade buyers.
Co-founder Stengaard, says, “Bemakers Trade, currently available in Denmark, Sweden, and Germany, connects brand owners directly with trade buyers. Our mission is to be the operational backbone for the beverage industry.”
Bemakers provides full support to brands by handling all the administrative tasks for listing and selling through Systembolaget and Amazon. This allows brand owners to concentrate on developing the market, activating on-trade channels, and building their brand.
According to Bemakers, managing multi-channel activations can be challenging, but it’s a recommended strategy for creating brand awareness and demand in new markets.
Since its launch in August 2022, Bemakers has partnered with over 200 brand owners and distributors, expanding its services to eight European countries.
Bemakers’ key partners
Bemakers has key partners like Radico, a distillery in India, which is using Bemakers to improve its distribution in Europe and boost its direct-to-consumer online sales. Another partner, Thy Whisky, a distillery from Denmark, is also using Bemakers to grow its sales in Europe.
They are expanding their direct-to-consumer efforts with the help of Bemakers’ Shopify integration.
Kunal Madan, VP of International Business at Radico Khaitan, says, “Bemakers aligns perfectly with our business model. Their infrastructure and team are instrumental in helping us execute our vision.”
Andreas Poulsen, co-founder of Thy Whisky, adds, “We’ve invested a lot of time and effort into building a unique Thy product universe for our Danish e-commerce presence. We wanted to replicate that in other European countries.”
“The solution Bemakers provided via the integration enables this and within a week we were up and running in 4 new markets. It’s so simple and allows me to stay in control of my brand and my customers’ experience.”
