On Tuesday, Amsterdam-based bunq, an AI-powered neobank, announced an upgrade to its AI assistant – Finn, at the bunq Update 27 event, making it the first bank to bring real-time speech-to-speech translation within its app.
Ali Niknam, founder and CEO of bunq, says, “At bunq, we have always used technology to make life easy, and this update takes that to a new level. We’re excited to break down language barriers and simplify tedious tasks, making bunq more accessible (and fun) to users all over the world.”
The announcement comes two months after the launching of Stocks — a new investment product designed particularly for digital nomads at Update 26.
Bunq’s Finn – The upgrades
Moving forward, bunq’s AI assistant can instantly translate both the user’s speech and the support agent’s responses in real-time, ensuring a smooth conversation without needing external translation apps.
Besides, Finn now understands and processes visual information and makes the bunq app available in more than 30 languages.
In addition to real-time translation, the AI assistant can now include image recognition to streamline everyday tasks.
Users can now upload receipts and documents directly into the app, and Finn will quickly process the information, fill in invoice details, and set up payments within seconds.
For business users, managing multiple receipts is simple: just upload them from your phone gallery, and Finn will handle everything.
Finn also helps verify documents. For example, students can upload their proof of enrollment in the chat with Finn, and the assistant will check if they’re eligible for a free student plan with bunq.
Additionally, users can provide feedback on translations, helping Finn continuously improve through every user interaction.
