Artificial Intelligence is one of the emerging technologies that find use in any applications. London-based Cervest uses this technology to come up with the weather forecasts. It combines Earth science expertise with machine learning, AI and statistics to provide accurate forecasts of climatic events.
Secures €4.3M funding
In a recent development, Cervest announced that it has secured £3.7 million (nearly €4.3 million) in a pre-seed funding round led by Future Positive Capital, a deep tech investor along with Astanor Ventures. This investment takes the overall funding raised by the startup to over £4.5 million (nearly €5.2 million).
Cervest will use this investment to launch a revolutionary real-time, climate forecasting platform. The platform will help decision-makers manage risk, and help solve the most pressing environmental issues of the Earth. It will grow the business by hiring new talent, continue generating proprietary data assets, and securing new customers.
Earth Science AI Platform!
The Earth Science AI platform of Cervest is capable of analysing billions of data points that will help forecast how climatic changes will impact the future of the countries anywhere in the world. It combines modelling techniques and research taken from proven Earth sciences such as meteorology, hydrology, agronomy, and atmospheric science.
Spots all climatic changes!
It uses Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, imaging, and Bayesian statistics for the same. It uses a vast collection of probability theory and satellite imagery. The platform accurately identifies early warning signs, signals, extreme events such as fires, strong winds, and floods. It can also identify water risk and changes in soil health.
Cervest’s Earth Science AI approach has the power to transform the strategic decision making of managers in risk, investment, insurance, infrastructure, public policy, and CPG industries. And, this is the company’s unique selling point.
The forecasts by the platform are updated in real-time using a scalable personalised and filtered dashboard. It is used to model how a given region is likely to change in the coming weeks, months and decades.
Talented team
Founded in 2016 by Iggy Bassi, Cervest has a team of talented individuals from over 30 universities including Imperial College, The Alan Turing Institute, Cambridge, UCL, Harvard and Oxford. The executives at the London-based startup have published over 60 peer-reviewed scientific papers.
Beta version coming soon
Cervest is all set to launch the beta version of its platform in Q1 2020. It will be designed with risk practitioners across industries. While it is initially focusing on Europe, it is all set to launch its services in the global markets.
