Contentful raises Series F round
Today, the company announced that it has raised $175M in its Series F round of funding, at a valuation of over $3B. The round was led by Tiger Global. In addition, existing investors, including Base10 Advancement Initiative and Tidemark, also invested in this round.
Last year, in June 2020, the company raised nearly €71.3M in its Series E round of funding led by Sapphire Ventures, along with participation from Salesforce Ventures, General Catalyst, and other new and existing investors.
Funds for expansion
The proceeds from this round will help Contentful to expand its global footprint in marketing and sales as well as continue investment in building out its content platform, ecosystem, and next generation of products.
Speaking on the development, Steve Sloan, CEO of Contentful, explains, “We are living in a digital-first era where content makes digital experiences come alive. It is the way the best companies create conversations across all of the devices that surround their customers. This latest round of financing enables us to accelerate our pace of investment in our team and technology and enable our growing ecosystem of customers and partners to build on our platform and create the best content experiences for today’s consumer.”
“Contentful – A better way to deliver digital experiences”
Founded in 2013 by Paolo Negri and Sascha Konietzke, Contentful aims to help the leading brands in the world manage content across their digital products and channels. It provides a content platform for enterprises to unify their content on a single hub so that there is no more content stuck in CMS silos.
Also, the company powers content for many large enterprises that distribute content to their end customers. In a statement, the company reports that it helps over 30 per cent of the Fortune 500 and thousands of brands around the world create and manage digital experiences for their customers across any channel.
Companies such as Shopify, Staples, Atlassian, Electronic Arts, Chanel, Roche, Vodafone and many others use Contentful’s platform. The company has offices in hubs including Berlin, San Francisco and Denver, and a global team distributed across every time zone.
