Italy-based Copan is a manufacturer of sample collection products for infectious diseases, human genomics, environmental and forensic applications, along with automated workflow solutions.
In a recent development, the Italian preanalytics company announced that it has completed an extensive rebranding initiative which includes a new logo and a new website with updated functionalities. According to the company, “This rebranding aims to represent at best the company values and offer an improved customer experience.”
Why the rebranding?
The company highlights the fact that from preanalytics to patient care, it has been a turbulent time for professionals and companies involved in COVID-19 testing, screening, and treatment.
COPAN, which stands for COllection and Preservation for ANalysis, was founded in 1979 in Mantua, Italy. The company is a manufacturer of microbiological collection systems and preanalytics lab automation.
This rebranding was a project that started for its 40th anniversary in 2019, but was postponed by the pandemic.
According to Stefania Triva, CEO & President, “a rebranding was necessary to represent at best the value we give to people, innovation, and trust, and face new challenges that are approaching the international market.”
The rebranding includes new communication strategy and graphic design, with a new logo that has been designed as an evolution of the historical one. The “Innovating together” tagline, on the other hand, remains unchanged. “Innovating together symbolises the core values of Copan – the innovation brought into the world of preanalytics and the strong bonds of trust that we’ve always built with our partners and employees – and is a fundamental part of our identity,” adds Triva.
Besides, the company has also introduced a new website, www.copangroup.com. Talking about the website, Capan claims to offer an engaging design and easy navigation optimised for desktop or mobile use, and provides access to essential information about products, scientific studies, news, and services quickly and intuitively.
About COPAN Diagnostics
The company states in a press release, “Our ideas drove 40 years of progress in the field of preanalytics, resulting in the development of meaningful products tailored to fit any need. Among them, our patented FLOQSwabs completely reinvented sample collection and transport, while the WASPLab automation ecosystem revolutionised laboratory workflow.”
With sample collection and transport systems, full laboratory automation, Digital Microbiology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Microbiology, Copan will continue to invest in science and technology to continually improve its knowledge to offer an innovative product line in its niche market.
Currently, Copan supplies products including hundreds of millions of bacteriology transport swabs, transfer pipets, calibrated plastic inoculation loops, UTM viral transport systems, and Flocked Swabs per year.
Earlier this month, Copan announced a $78M investment to expand its Puerto Rican production site. The project – partially financed by Puerto Rico’s Government – will bring Copan production and distribution capacity closer to the American market, strengthening the company’s presence in the US and the rest of the Americas.
Pandemic response
According to the company, in response to the pandemic, “COPAN quickly began working around-the-clock expanding production, adding manufacturing shifts, boosting both employee numbers and hours and opening new factories. All those efforts resulted in the tripling of COVID-related production in 2020, with the goal of reaching one billion of each flocked and classic swabs, along with half a billion tubes of transport media in 2021.”
“In the face of this deadly pandemic, COPAN managed to successfully ramp up and to simultaneously expand to new facilities in Italy, California and Puerto Rico. We evolved mainly from manufacturing in Italy to expanding production for the Americas and our worldwide customers,” says Triva.
