Zurich-based ETFbook, a data and analytics platform for the exchange-traded funds (ETF) market, has secured €4M in a Series A funding round. BlackFin Capital Partners led the investment.
The Swiss startup offers a comprehensive data and analytics platform through a web application and APIs. Besides Zurich, the company also operates in major European financial hubs like London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Dublin.
Since its launch in mid-2020, the company has grown rapidly, serving over 35 institutional clients.
ETF expert Arnaud Llinas, former head of Amundi ETFs and Lyxor ETFs, who advised and co-invested with BlackFin Capital Partners, says, “The ETF market is poised for continued growth, particularly among wealth and retail investors.”
“With over 40 new ETFs launched weekly and significant flows dynamic across all asset classes, market participants require a centralised tool to navigate and understand evolving investment trends.”
“ETFbook’s experienced team has developed a comprehensive platform that should be a valuable addition to every investor’s toolkit.”
Capital utilisation
ETFbook’s funding will drive its expansion by recruiting top talent across product development, data science, sales, and marketing. With this, the company aims to enhance its platform with advanced AI, expand data coverage, and accelerate growth.
Additionally, ETFbook is preparing for its US market entry later this year.
Pawel Janus, Ph.D., co-founder and CEO of ETFbook, says, “We are very pleased to announce BlackFin Capital Partners as our first external investor.”
“This investment will accelerate the execution of our ambitious product roadmap and geographic expansion strategy, enabling ETFbook to better serve the ever-evolving data & analytics needs in the thriving ETF markets, globally.”
Providing ETF data, analytics and solutions
As the ETF market continues to grow, investment professionals require real-time data and analytics to make strategic decisions.
ETFbook, a data and analytics platform launched in mid-2020, provides institutional clients with comprehensive insights, including product analysis, fund flow tracking, performance comparisons, and liquidity assessments.
With the increasing complexity of ETFs, such as Active ETFs and Digital Assets ETPs, ETFbook assists new issuers by producing portfolio composition files. To further enhance its capabilities, the platform has begun integrating AI to automate workflows and generate predictive insights.
ETFbook serves a wide range of industry participants, including ETF issuers, index providers, fund service providers, market makers, exchanges, and buy-side firms. Through its web application and API solutions, the company aims to make ETF data more accessible, actionable, and valuable.
Romain Grimal, Sr. Investment Manager at BlackFin Capital Partners, says, “As a finance-focused investor, we observe daily the strong tailwinds propelling forward the whole ETF industry. We have been impressed by the robustness of ETFbook’s platform as well as its founding team’s execution capabilities.”
“ETFbook provides an answer to the needs of all stakeholders involved. We share Pawel and Bartlomiej’s vision and are thus delighted to lead ETFbook’s Series A funding round to support them in becoming the leading source of truth for the ETF market.”
