Amsterdam-based Diverse Leaders in Tech, born from the Techleap programme with backing from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, announced that it is now independently launched as a social impact venture.

This development aims to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in European tech through data-driven approaches, community learning, and a robust DEI partner network, catalysing DEI practices across the industry.

Techleap’s Special Envoy, Constantijn van Oranje, says, “Diverse Leaders in Tech’s evolution from a Techleap-supported programme to an independent social impact venture is a testament to the pressing need for actionable DEI initiatives in the tech industry. Their work is crucial for creating a more inclusive and diverse technological future in Europe.“

Ingrid Tappin assumes the CEO role with the support of Gillian Tans, known for initiating the DEI in Tech Benchmark, and Techleap as the Founding Partner.

Ingrid Tappin adds, “DEI is a business enabler. Whether it’s in the workplace or society at large, we all have a responsibility to work towards a more inclusive and equitable future. DEI is a real business enabler. It’s not a nice-to-have if you are in technology, it’s a must-have.”

Community aim by 2030

Diverse Leaders in Tech says, “We are striving to change the face of tech in the Netherlands and beyond through a new wave of diverse leadership.”

“By 2030, our community aims to transform the tech industry by normalising data-driven DEI, enhancing cultural, gender, and neurodiversity representation, ending workplace discrimination, fostering LGBTQI+ safety, retaining international talent, and mitigating AI bias through comprehensive education and allyship.”

By 2030, the manifesto of Diverse Leaders in Tech’s community sets ambitious goals to drive DEI in the tech industry. It aims to educate and empower tech companies to adopt data-driven DEI practices as the standard.

The firm’s vision includes achieving cultural and gender diversity at all levels that proportionally represent the Dutch population. It aims to increase funding in tech to reflect the diversity of the Dutch workforce and eliminate discrimination, racism, and sexism in workplaces by sharing best practices.

Diverse Leaders in Tech are also committed to establishing neurodiverse-friendly tech environments and increasing LGBTQI+ workplace safety through allyship.

Additionally, its goals involve reducing international tech talent attrition due to cultural inclusion issues and providing education to all tech leaders to become vocal DEI allies.

And finally, the organisation aims to educate the entire tech ecosystem on overcoming the risks of bias in AI to create a more equitable future for all.
