Last update:

Today, security teams face a lot of challenges such as understaffed teams and piecemeal processes. This has an impact on the speed at which teams respond to security alerts. This is where the Dublin-based cybersecurity automation startup Tines comes to play as it helps mitigate the challenges by gathering intelligence automatically from disparate systems to triage alerts without the need to write code.

Founded by Eoin Hinchy and Thomas Kinsella in 2018, Tines operates with the intention to make the lives of enterprise security teams easier by providing them with the tools that they need to automate manual and repetitive tasks.

Secures €10M funding

In a recent development, Tines secured $11 million (nearly €10 million) Series A funding led by Accel along with participation from Index Ventures and Blossom Capital. This investment comes after the $4.1 million (nearly €3.7 million) Series A funding that it raised in October this year.

The Dublin-based firm will use the investment to fuel further expansion into the US and Europe. Also, it has started developing its engineering and commercial teams, including in-house research and development programs to make sure the company remains a leader of the ever-changing security landscape.

Highly flexible solution!

The main differentiating factor between Tines and its rivals is that the former is flexible. Tines does not rely on pre-built integrations to communicate with external systems. However, in competition models, teams have a limited number of integration options built by the vendor.

In such cases, if customers want to do anything beyond these, then they have to seek the vendor to integrate the same for them or redirect their engineers from higher priority tasks. None of these solutions will be suitable in dynamic, high-pace security operations, thereby leading to the necessity of a more flexible solution.

Tines’ platform can be easily integrated with any tool with an API, which can be anything such as off-the-shelf or commercial product or in-house tools. What’s more interesting is that this will let most security teams automate workflows within the first 24 hours.

Easy-to-use platform!

The Dublin-based startup lets security analysts automate their unique workflows and processes via a simple set of drag-and-drop building blocks. The security teams will be able to adapt and expand their automation stories and this will make them and powerful. Moreover, Tines’ approach is not limited only to security use cases and its clients are using it for DevOps, HR, and IT as well.
