Rotterdam-based Dura Vermeer, a provider of construction, infrastructure, and engineering services, announced on Monday, November 7, that it has acquired technical service provider Nexton to strengthen its Technology Division.
The latest acquisition also marks the company’s third strategic acquisition.
Nexton: What you need to know
Based out of Amsterdam, Nexton consists of independent companies that focus on advice, design, product development, implementation, and maintenance of (building-related) installations.
The Dutch company adds value to smart buildings, energy transition, circularity, sustainability, and as-a-service concepts. In addition, Nexton has ventures that give the company access to a network of technology parties with a wide range of innovative and smart solutions.
At present, the company employs around 240 people.
Nexton’s CEO, Eugene Soffers, says, “Nexton as part of Dura Vermeer means more clout, innovative strength, and opportunities to expand our activities. For customers with installation-technical issues, this collaboration provides major advantages. In addition, the collaboration offers great opportunities and growth opportunities for Nexton’s employees.”
Reason behind the acquisition
According to the Rotterdam-based company, installation technology is integral to construction and infrastructure projects. With this acquisition, Dura Vermeer plans to accelerate the strategic growth ambitions of the Engineering Division.
Founded in 1855, Dura Vermeer is a family business that provides design, development, and realisation of construction and infrastructure projects, including maintenance, renovation, and transformation.
With a turnover of more than €1.6B and approximately 2800 employees, the Dutch company is active in residential construction, utility construction, infrastructure, and technology.
