Dutch electric mobility startup, Etergo, gained 4,477 investors in their latest crowdfunding round, outperforming the best campaigns on popular crowdfunding websites like Seedrs.

They’ve raised around €4 million from these private investors to be able to launch its ‘AppScooter’ early next year. It’s worth mentioning that the mobility startup received €10 million from a German automotive specialist last year, followed by €4 million in June this year. Now, the Amsterdam-based company has raised total funding of €21.3 million to date. Reportedly, investors in Etergo become shareholders, but their shares are not yet tradable on a public stock exchange.

For the uninitiated, Etergo is the innovative electric mobility company, to make petrol transportation a thing of the past. Founded by Bart Jacobsz Rosier, and Marijn Flipse in 2014, Etergo (formerly Bolt Mobility) has built AppScooter, an electric scooter that offers a 240km range, 50L of buddy space, and a smart mobile connected touchscreen. For the uninitiated, this e-scooter has a 7-inch LED touchscreen display and can accelerate up to 45kmph in less than four seconds.

As per the company claims, the Appscooter will be designed and built in the Netherlands. AppScooter elevates the electric smart vehicle concept, unifying communication, music, safety, and more into an intuitive app-centric interface.

This e-scooter has handlebar controls to take calls and stream music without pulling out the smartphone. Notably, it is the world’s first scooter to run Android apps. It has inbuilt GPS and access to 4G connectivity in its cockpit. It comes with electronically controlled locks. The ultimate purpose of this e-scooter is to minimize distractions while traveling.
