Dutch online supermarket Picnic reaches 1M deliveries in Amersfoort
In the latest development, Picnic, the Dutch online supermarket, has reached 1 million deliveries in Amersfoort, Netherlands. As per the company claims, customers saved a total of more than 500,000 hours of supermarket visits. On top of that, the delivery with electric cars (instead of diesel vehicles) saved more than 150,000 kilos of CO2.
According to the company, the millionth delivery was delivered to Maaike Hooft in Amersfoort and her sons Luuk and Willem. The very first Picnic runner in Amersfoort and now regional chef, Jeroen Boumeester, delivered the groceries.
It’s worth mentioning that the family can shop for free for a month as well. The company’s electric car has covered more than 1.4 million kilometers to date.
Based out of Amsterdam, Picnic operates an online platform created to provide grocery supermarket services at low prices. It receives all the orders from users for the next day through its platform and sends them to bakers, greengrocers, and other suppliers and delivers orders using electric vehicles, enabling consumers to order all of their groceries at affordable prices at their doorsteps.
Founded in 2015, it has pioneered a modern milkman style scheduled service with its iconic little electric vans across more than 100 cities The Netherlands, and Germany.
