Every year, a group of Dutch startups and scale-ups showcase their cutting-edge technologies at CES 2025, the world’s largest tech fair.

In January 2025, 50 Dutch startups will attend the CES event scheduled in Las Vegas from January 7–10. Their products focus on challenges in biotechnology, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and healthcare.

On Friday, the Dutch government (Economic Affairs) announced that six of these startups have won the 2025 Innovation Award, placing them among the best international designs, innovations, and products.

The award-winning startups are

  • Budz – DutchBudz is designing earbuds for professionals. The company is developing wearables optimised for wind and noise-proof voice communication and pro-level HD audio.
  • They offer great sound quality and block outside noise while allowing users to stay aware of their surroundings.
  • Flowbeams – Flowbeams is working on needle-free injection technology for medical and cosmetic uses.
  • Liion Power – The company has created a device that optimises battery charging in electronics, increasing battery life by 50 per cent and reducing electronic waste.
  • 1NA – The company is developing a platform to observe DNA-protein interactions, which is important for creating new treatments for rare diseases.
  • Senergetics – Senergetics tackles key challenges in the process industry, including corrosion under insulation, leaks, and energy loss. The company provides specialised sensors for continuous monitoring and uses AI for data analysis, enabling predictive maintenance, reducing costly breakdowns, and improving efficiency.
  • WearM.AI – WearM.AI’s vision-based wearables track full-body movements and monitor muscle status accurately. They provide personalised advice to enhance performance and reduce injury risk.

Minister Dirk Beljaarts (Economic Affairs) says, “CES is globally recognised as the ultimate stage for innovative companies, where they showcase their solutions to a broad audience, including potential investors. The Innovation Awards highlight that Dutch entrepreneurs are creating outstanding innovative solutions. CES is a crucial step towards scaling up. That’s why I will be attending the upcoming CES to draw attention to these companies and their innovations.”

Supporting startups, scale-ups, and SMBs

Innovation drives economic growth, which is why the government actively supports startups, scale-ups, and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Programs like the Seed Business Angel initiative encourage investment in creative and technical startups, while Innovatiekrediet targets high-risk, high-potential projects.

Additionally, the WBSO provides tax incentives for research and development. These initiatives help unlock the potential of our innovative businesses.

CES is the largest international business fair in the United States and is held annually in Las Vegas.

The event aligns with the Dutch government’s goal to foster innovation and specifically to provide additional support to startups and scale-ups in their growth and pursuit of appropriate financing.
