About Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS) Institute
The Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS Institute) was founded by Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), Wageningen University & Research (WUR) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with the mission to solve complex metropolitan challenges. AMS Institute stands as a beacon of innovation, education, and entrepreneurship, with the mission to bring together academics, researchers, startups, and industry partners to develop sustainable urban solutions that improve the quality of life in cities.
The research portfolio revolves around six urban challenges that cover the most important urban transitions, with the aim of making cities more sustainable, livable, and resilient. AMS Institute runs over 125 research projects, all defined and executed by interdisciplinary consortia of knowledge institutes, public and private partners, in close collaboration with the City of Amsterdam.

AMS Institute facilitates interdisciplinary research and fosters collaboration among public, private, and academic stakeholders. We also provide a platform for startups and innovators through programs like the AMS Startup Booster, where we support early-stage ventures in scaling impactful urban-tech solutions.
