Facebook is unarguably the most prominent social media network on the internet, but it has been on the news several times for wrong reasons – privacy issue, mishandling data (Cambridge Analytica), fake news, and more.
Facebook’s pop-up cafe!
Ever since then, privacy has been at the forefront of Facebook’s ethos. In the latest development, Facebook is setting up a pop-up cafe in London, to spread more awareness and encourage routine privacy checkup.
Five pop-ups across the UK!
As per the report by Evening Standard, the pop-up cafe will be inside The Attendant on Great Eastern Street and will be open on 28 and 29 August. Notably, it is one of the five pop-ups across the UK between August 28 and September 5.ย Registered individuals will be able to get a privacy checkup along with a free coffee as well.
According to Facebook, the pop-up cafe is the result of a recent poll conducted, where 27 percent of Londoners don’t know how to customise their social media privacy settings.
Facebook may get $5 billion fine!
It’s worth mentioning that, the US Financial Trade Commission announced that it might fine Facebook $5 billion for its data violations and privacy practice. According to the US FTC probe, Mark Zuckerberg’s company has violated a 2012 consent decree by sharing data 87 million users with British political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica.
