Last update:

A few days ago, Engie confirmed to Silicon Canals that the French energy company plans to liquidate the entire EVBox group.

However, “Financière de Pessac,” represented by Eric Stempin (former founder & president of EVTronics), has proposed a partial takeover of EVBox from Engie.

In the latest development, EVBox employees and staff representatives met with ENGIE on October 10, 2024, to inform them of the Group’s choice of a buyer for part of the company’s activities.

On October 16, 2024, EVBox staff received detailed information about the proposed partial takeover by Financière de Pessac, represented by Eric Stempin.

ENGIE teams analysed the takeover offer, which involved all DC (fast charging) activities through EVTronic except for sales and production in the United States.

It involves several criteria, particularly the level of job protection, the clarity and reliability of the commitments presented by the buyer, the credibility of the business plan, and the continuity in the follow-up of contractual maintenance and warranty obligations towards EVBox customers.

EVBox: Financière de Pessac’s offer

Financière de Pessac’s offer includes maintaining all 100 current EVTronic employees at the Bordeaux site in France, as well as 34 positions in other EVBox entities, particularly in sales, after-sales service, and technological innovation.

In terms of after-sales service, all commitments made to EVBox customers would be honored over the long term by:

  • EVTRONIC, as part of its takeover by Financière de Pessac, for the DC charging stations.
  • A new subsidiary, to be set up by ENGIE in the Netherlands, will create around 100 jobs locally over a fixed period, for the AC chargers already installed.

“The offer to take over part of EVBox’s activities does not impact the social calendar associated with the company’s plan to cease operations. Social dialogue will continue until the end of November,” says ENGIE.
