Paris-based Sofinnova Partners, a European venture capital firm in life sciences, has raised €1.2B over the past year, with more than €1B secured in the last quarter.
This brings the firm’s total assets under management (AUM) to over €4B. However, additional details about the individual funds will be shared after their final closings.
The VC’s latest funds have attracted significant commitments from leading institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, corporates, and family offices.
“All seven of Sofinnova’s investment strategies—from incubation to later-stage growth, spanning biotech, medtech, industrial biotech, and digital medicine—have capital to back the next generation of life sciences companies,” says Antoine Papiernik, Chairman, and Managing Partner of Sofinnova Partners.
“With the new funds, we anticipate supporting 50 to 60 new companies, empowering a new wave of entrepreneurs tackling some of the world’s most pressing health and sustainability challenges,” adds Papiernik.
The announcement comes a year after launching Sofinnova.ai. It is based on a structured, continuously updated database that tracks the global corpus of human scientific knowledge in real time.
Over the past ten years, Sofinnova has built a strong and well-connected team in life sciences investing.
Currently, the firm now has over 80 professionals, including 25 investment partners with deep industry knowledge.
This international team includes members from 24 different countries and has offices in three European cities, along with a presence in major innovation centres around the world.
