Munich-based deepc, the company specialising in AI operating systems for radiologists and enterprise clinical organisations, announced on Thursday that it has closed its Series A with a $13M (approximately €11.9M) extension round, bringing the company’s total funding to date to $30M approximately €27.6M).
The funding was co-led by Sofinnova Partners and Bertelsmann Investments, with participation from new investors KHP Ventures and SwissHealth Ventures, alongside existing investor Winning Mindset Ventures.
The German company will use the funds to accelerate its growth and international expansion, as well as enhance and commercialise its operating system.
Key priorities for growth include extending its presence in the United States, further expanding in the United Kingdom, and doubling down on key European markets.
Dr. Franz Pfister, CEO and Co-Founder of deepc, says, “At deepc, we believe that the potential for AI in healthcare will only be realized if we can bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI and clinical practice. Our platform makes it easy for organizations to adopt the best AI technologies at pace and at scale, enabling faster, more accurate diagnoses and ultimately improving patient outcomes.”
“We are thrilled to welcome SwissHealth Ventures and KHP Ventures, alongside our existing investors Sofinnova Partners, Bertelsmann Investments, and Winning Mindset Ventures. Together, they bring tremendous strategic value to deepc and will be a major asset as we continue to scale internationally and invest further in our platform,” adds Pfister.
Radiology is an area of medicine where AI can have an immediate impact, with over 1000 clinically proven radiology AI solutions now available to health systems.
However, only a few patients currently benefit from radiology AI because deploying these solutions in clinical settings remains expensive, time-consuming, and technically complex.
deepc: Radiology AI platform
deepc is addressing this issue through deepcOS, the AI operating system for radiologists and clinical organisations.
With deepc, clinicians can access regulatory-approved radiology AI solutions for over 60 clinical indications through a single integration. This allows them to benefit from AI without any of the technical, operational, or commercial complexity.
The German company ensures that radiologists benefit from the best AI solutions that meet their unique requirements by rigorously validating vendor-neutral AI solutions using large-scale independent data and offering a practical evaluation of AI solutions on local clinical data.
The company also enables easy and fast installation, end-to-end integration, and unified contracting and billing, service, all under a comprehensive privacy & security framework.
Today, the company’s platform is used by organisations, including Solothurn Hospital in Switzerland, the Vivantes Hospital Group and LMU University Hospital in Germany, CHU Brugmann (Brugmann University Hospital) in Belgium, as well as the National Health Service (NHS) in England.
