London-based Grasp, an online learning platform on a mission to accelerate human learning, announced on Monday that it has secured $4M (approximately €3.62M) in a seed round of funding.
The UK-based company says that it will use the funds to further develop its platform and expand the team with key hires in product, data science, and engineering. Interested applicants can apply here.
Investor supporting Grasp
The investment was led by London-based venture capital firm Balderton Capital.
Founded in 2000, Balderton focuses exclusively on backing European-founded startups. To date, the firm has backed nearly 300 startups and claims to have extensive experience backing founders from Seed to growth stage, Europe-wide.
Daniel Waterhouse, Partner at Balderton Capital, says, “We are excited to be working with Ed (Founder and CEO of Grasp) again on his highly ambitious plan to transform self-learning in a world where skill set requirements are constantly changing and people are hungry to learn and adapt.”
Tools to learn faster
Founded in 2022 by Revolut employees Ed Matthews and Jacob Sidorov, Grasp aims to accelerate human learning. Its goal is to be the centre of learning, capable of quickly advancing anybody from novice to expert in a field.
While ChatGPT and TikTok can answer quick queries, it is becoming increasingly difficult to identify and access quality educational experiences. Finding an organised course of high-quality materials that are individually relevant for folks wishing to study something extensively is very tough.
This is where Grasp looks to make a difference. The company is developing technologies to address this difficulty and provide users with the best online learning experiences possible.
The company says People will be able to speed up their learning, enhance their knowledge, and broaden their skill sets, thanks to Grasp’s complete educational platform.
There is currently a waiting list for interested individuals to join up for beta testing, beginning with modern occupational skills such as programming.
Matthews says, “The user experience as an adult learner sucks! Whether we’re learning to solve specific problems at work or trying to modernise our skill sets, learning is inconvenient, impersonal, and high friction. Team Grasp are the A-players fixing that.”
