Amsterdam-based HelloMaaS, a marketing talent platform founded by Louise Doorn, will officially cease operations by December 2024.
The decision, made collaboratively with investors, follows six years of profitability and growth but acknowledges challenges in scaling due to market preferences for personal connections and shifting industry dynamics.
Accomplishments of HelloMaaS
HelloMaaS redefined how marketing teams work by connecting talented freelancers and launching flexible team solutions.
Under Doorn’s leadership, HelloMaaS achieved notable milestones, including connecting 50 clients across nine countries with hundreds of freelancers, launching the HelloMasters podcast series featuring 50 Chief Marketing Officers, and spinning off HelloMarketing.ai, which secured five clients in its first year.
The company was profitable for the last two years, showcasing the viability of its flexible team solutions for marketing.
Reflecting on the journey, Doorn mentions in a LinkedIn post, “Since stepping away, I’ve traded business decks for dirt under my nails. I’ve been working in our garden, learning the slow magic of permaculture, tending our olive grove, and nurturing fruit trees. It’s a different kind of growth—measured in seasons, not quarters. Sometimes growth means deepening roots.”
“To our investors and advisors who backed our vision, clients who trusted us with their brands, the incredible freelancers, of course our core team and partners who brought expertise and dedication: thank you for being part of this.”
Doorn adds, “For fellow entrepreneurs: embracing endings can be as crucial as celebrating beginnings. I enjoy the quiet process and physical work now so my thoughts are rebalancing ambition with stillness. Yet new ideas for future ventures have popped up.”
