How London-based Visionable, ‘Zoom for doctors’ wants to transform telehealth communications?

Based out of London, Visionable is a healthcare technology that offers next-generation video conferencing platform for clinicians to deliver better patient care. 

Raised €6.6 million!

Recently, the company has raised £6 million (approx €6.6 million) in an oversubscribed Series A1 funding round. The private placement, completed within 24 hours, was led by West Hill Capital. With this round, the UK company has raised £17 million (approx €19 million) to date. 

With this funding, the health-tech company will recruit 20 people and accelerate product development to accommodate the growing demands for its video streaming technology from the NHS and private health providers following COVID-19. 

Commenting on the event, Alan Lowe, CEO & Co-Founder of Visionable says: “At a time when the pandemic has significantly limited patients’ ability to see their doctors, we’ve experienced a surge in demand for our video collaboration platform which enables consultations to take place anywhere, at any time. Our technology saves clinician’s and patient’s time while bridging skills gaps and distances by allowing consultations to take place in a secure online setting. Entire medical teams can review cases together via Visionable with native resolution and high-quality imaging, enabling faster and better outcomes for patients. This funding round will enable us to fast track our expansion plans and develop new functionality to meet growing demand.”

Revenue increased 6.5 times!

In four weeks, since lockdown was announced Visionable increased video conferencing hours by 1,607%, facilitated 4,200 hours of patient consultations, and on boarded 16,000 NHS staff in using video streaming technology. From Q4 2019 to Q1 2020, revenues at the company increased 6.5 times.

To address advanced needs in healthcare!

Founded by Alan Lowe, Lord Victor Adebowale, the platform has been built specifically to address the advanced technical needs found in healthcare. More than a video collaboration platform!

In an exclusive interview with Alan Lowe, he explains, “While Visionable began as a video collaboration tool designed specifically with the needs of medical services providers in mind, Visionable has many more capabilities than a ‘Zoom for doctors’! Our technology goes far beyond digital consultations, with lossless streaming in the latest version and connected ambulances which we are developing to change the way patients access healthcare.”

He further added, “Visionable’s streaming technology allows you to bring in several doctors on separate webcams to discuss a patient case, concurrently have multiple cameras on the patient, and have different hospitals share CT scans simultaneously in high-quality imaging. To achieve a truly ‘connected health’ system, Visionable makes it easy for everyone – from patients to clinicians to whole organisations – to work together, ensuring patients’ access to the most secure, timeliest, and best care possible.”

Connected Ambulance!

On the other hand, the company is transforming ambulances into mobile A&E (Accident & Emergency) facilities by enabling paramedics to connect instantly to critical care team expertise whilst in the field. This minimises unnecessary A&E admissions and affords all patients equal access to the best care available.

Talking about the connected ambulance, Alan Lowe says, “The project will involve equipping a standard ambulance with state-of-the-art devices and connectivity to create a ‘Smart Ambulance’ that will utilise 5G connectivity, transforming the vehicle into a unique remote consultation room. The trial was developed at Millbrook’s Proving Ground – a vehicle testing facility in Bedford – that will help O2, who is leading the project, to develop and safely test the new system before it is deployed on the public network, replicating real-world 5G capabilities.”

According to Alan Lowe, the vehicle will be equipped with a range of cutting edge technologies including – Unlimited participants & data feeds for live conferencing, video & voice collaboration platform, and patented high-quality picture quality. “Visionable is the video collaboration software partner, working alongside Samsung for the devices, and Launchcloud for the asset tracking and compliance check elements.”

Looking to grow internationally!

Speaking about the roadmap, Alan Lowe shares, “2020 is a year of exciting growth and development for Visionable. With an expanded team, we plan to accelerate R&D this year and will look to grow internationally, initially to the US, to accommodate the unprecedented demand for our technology.” 

Significant increase in demand!

Around the world, the coronavirus pandemic has tested public health systems and introduced patients as well as clinicians to the flexibility and convenience of digital consultations. “COVID-19 has led to a significant increase in demand for Visionable’s video streaming technology due to social distancing measures. Health care professionals in the public and private sector are using Visionable for virtual consultations, multidisciplinary team meetings and to connect COVID-19 patients with their loved ones. This includes Visionable’s Connect App which, in collaboration with WIFI Sparks, allows hospitals to offer virtual visiting to patients whose families and friends might not be able to visit them.”
