Last update:

Health Innovation Hub & Holding GmbH (Innovation in Health) has launched eight open innovation challenges to bridge the gap between the Pharma/MedTech industry, healthcare providers and start-ups.

The call introduces eight challenges as part of Innovation in Healthโ€™s flagship programmes, Start-ups Meet Pharma, Start-ups Meet Healthcare Providers and Meet&Match.Dx.

This yearโ€™s challenges are released in cooperation with GSK, Abbott, Takeda, Siemens Healthineers, Beurer, Aidian, Qiagen and 4 hospitals associated with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Grigore T. Popa”.

Since its founding in 2016, Innovation in Health has helped forge more than 30 partnerships across the industry.

As the healthcare landscape rapidly evolves, it is more important than ever for industry leaders and healthcare providers to embrace new ideas and approaches. By partnering with startups, they can leverage the latest technologies and insights to develop new treatments, improve patient care, and increase efficiency.

2023 challenges:

  1. Disruptive solutions for early disease identification and lack of quality of care for systemic lupus erythematosus
  2. Development of a non-invasive tool/device for monitoring the health status of the gut microbiome
  3. Improving Clinical Decision Support Systems in Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
  4. Improved chronic patient management across different services
  5. Simplified nucleic acid extraction and/or sample preparation
  6. Improving healthcare access in low and middle-income countries
  7. Digital technologies to improve antibiotic prescription practices
  8. Integration of a cuffless blood pressure monitoring technology into the Beurer product portfolio

The open challenges are open to startups whose product/technology matches the challenges objectives. Participation in the challenges does not anticipate equity or IP involvement.

Selected startups will participate in a 4-module structured process, including one-to-one pitch training and partnership exploration meetings. Applications are open until 16 April 2023 and can be submitted online

Interested startups can register for the upcoming webinar on 29 March 2023 (11am CEST) for more information on the call and application process.
