Zurich-based Jua, an AI-powered weather forecasting & earth simulation company, has closed a €10M Series A funding round.
The round was co-led by Ananda Impact Ventures and Future Energy Ventures. Existing investors, including 468 Capital and Promus Ventures, and others, also participated.
Florian Erber, General Partner at Ananda Impact Ventures, says, “Jua is building one of the most important technological foundations for our planet’s future. The team combines world-class talent in AI and Earth science with the technical depth to execute at scale. We invest in ventures with deep, systemic impact: Jua is a standout example.”
Jan Palasinski, Partner at Future Energy Ventures, adds, “Jua is not just improving forecasts; they are redefining what’s possible. They’re establishing themselves as a category leader in foundational models of the natural world, exactly the kind of innovation needed to accelerate the energy transition.”
Capital utilisation
Jua will use the funds to speed up the wider launch of its Earth Intelligence Platform. This platform is a tool that helps energy traders make quicker and more effective decisions by modelling how natural systems operate. It runs on Jua’s EPT-2.0 AI model, which processes large amounts of data to simulate real-world conditions and predict outcomes in areas like weather, energy markets, and supply-demand trends.
Independent evaluations show that EPT-2.0 performs better than both standard weather prediction systems and AI models developed by major technology companies, such as DeepMind, Nvidia, and Microsoft.
Leadership transition
Besides the funding, Jua has appointed Marvin Gabler, co-founder and architect of the EPT-2.0 model, as its new CEO. He replaces Andreas Brenner, who led the company since its founding in 2022. Gabler will lead efforts to scale the Earth simulation platform in the energy sector and explore opportunities in other markets.
Gabler says, “With our Earth Intelligence Platform, we’ve turned the world’s most advanced Earth simulation into a practical decision engine. This is a foundational step toward mastering our planetary future.”
AI simulation of planet Earth
Accurate weather forecasting is important for industries such as energy, agriculture, aviation, and shipping, influencing operations and outcomes. Traditional forecasting methods depend on separate models and expert analysis. With more frequent extreme weather and decreasing predictability, new methods are being explored. This is where Jua looks to make a difference.
Founded in 2022, Jua develops an AI-based Earth simulation platform designed to model physical processes through a unified system.
The platform was created by a team with expertise in physics-based AI, climate modelling, and energy systems to address growing challenges from climate and geopolitical changes that existing tools could not manage.
Jua’s Earth Intelligence Platform is used by energy trading firms to track supply-demand changes and price movements. It integrates data from multiple weather models, enabling users to simulate market behaviour, produce forecasts, and automate decisions within a single interface.
Previously, Jua raised $16M in its 2024 seed round. Investors included Siraj Khaliq (founder of The Climate Corporation), Mehdi Ghiassani (former Head of Product at DeepMind), Ola Torudbakken (Director of AI Systems at Meta), 468 Capital, Green Generation Fund, and Promus Ventures.
