Last update:

Gothenburg-based Kognic, an annotation platform helping global enterprises produce and verify sensor-fusion data for high-performing and safe AI, has secured SEK 100M (€8.8M) in funding.

The round saw investment from existing investors including Metaplanet, Neudi Kapital and Stena Sessan.

Daniel Langkilde, co-founder of Kognic, says the Swedish company, which has been experiencing growth, is on track to return to profitability by 2025.

Langkilde adds, “We are extremely bullish on the future of embodied AI, sensor-fusion, and the need for great data infrastructure. We measure success by customer appreciation and revenue, not fundraising. Always play the long game.”

Empowering embodied AI with advanced data annotation

Kognic specialises in enabling Embodied AI, which powers physical devices like autonomous vehicles and robots to interact with the real world. The company focuses on the critical role of data in AI development, providing a platform for annotating sensor-fusion data from cameras, LiDARs, and radars.

The company believes that “Data is code” and positions its platform as essential for creating extensive, high-quality datasets necessary for AI. The platform highlights the importance of human feedback in refining AI models and ensuring that datasets evolve to meet real-world AI systems’ needs.

By combining expertise in Embodied AI and data annotation, Kognic supports the development of some of the most advanced autonomous systems globally.

The company helps machines navigate and understand the complex and unstructured world, providing essential tools to shape data and accelerate the development of high-performing and trusted AI products.

Founded in 2018 by engineering physicists Daniel Langkilde and Oscar Petersson, Kognic was born from their deep experience in Deep Learning and their desire to create a software solution that didn’t yet exist.

Kognic claims to have achieved a 90 per cent year-over-year growth and expanded its global presence with teams in Germany, Poland, Japan, and the US, supporting customers in industries such as automotive, robotics, and other vertical markets.
