France-based Lagoped, a sustainable outdoor clothing brand, announced that it has secured €5.7M in a fresh round of funding.
The investors in this round include new shareholders HPF and Vox Capital. Their support will help Lagoped continue its mission of combining fashion, adventure, and environmental protection.
Lagoped, in a LinkedIn post translated from French, says, “This fundraising marks a turning point for us of course. And also for all our partners and suppliers in the French and European textile industry, where the challenges are numerous. The good news is that the shared mission to create eco-friendly clothing is stronger than ever.”
“Our plan? Conquer Europe, develop our online sales and open three stores. Our popup store is already open, in collaboration with Au Vieux Campeur,” the company mentions.
The company is also looking to build a “great” team and is looking for talents to join its nature-loving outdoor brand.
What does Lagoped offer?
Founded in 2018, Lagoped takes a unique approach to sustainable garment production by avoiding organic, wood, and animal-based materials. They prioritise recycling to align with their mountain values of commitment, freedom, and sharing.
The company stands for a regenerative and humane economy, moving away from the traditional extraction economy that has been harmful to the planet.
All of its clothing is exclusively manufactured in Europe, supporting local craftsmanship and upholding European values while promoting peace and sustainability.
Lagoped says, “We guarantee our clothes for five years and offer to repair them. We don’t really have a collection: only the essentials that are renewed and improved thanks to your feedback. We use locally recycled and recyclable materials.”
“Far from the programmed obsolescence of the fashion seasons, we offer you well thought-out technical pieces. They are made to accompany you for a long time, to be worn, re-worn, repaired, lent, maintained, worn out.”
“A brand of freedom-loving enthusiasts!”
Lagoped emerged from the shared passion of its founders, who are avid mountain enthusiasts. The team includes Christophe Cordonnier, a former financial engineer turned entrepreneur; Julien Désécures, an engineer turned mountain guide; and Pierre Derieux, a strategy consultant turned facilitator.
They were inspired by their encounters with a snowbird in the Alps, which became the brand’s symbol and source of inspiration.
Driven by their love for nature and outdoor activities, Lagoped’s founders embarked on a mission to rekindle humanity’s connection with the natural world. Their commitment led to the creation of thoughtfully designed and responsible outdoor clothing.
Over time, Lagoped has grown, with more individuals joining their mission, and their community continues to expand as they work towards their goal of promoting a deeper appreciation for nature and sustainable outdoor apparel.
“We are proud to be the first brand to publish our eco-score for all our products for more transparency and less greenwashing,” says the company.
Inspired by nature
Lagoped draws inspiration from the ‘ptarmigan’, a resilient bird living in European mountains and beyond, known for its minimalist and eco-conscious lifestyle.
In a commitment to sustainability, Lagoped uses recycled materials made in Europe and selects water-repellent products and membranes free from harmful fluorinated compounds (PFCs).
The company’s goal is to leave only footprints, ensuring the preservation of the environment and the species like the ptarmigan that call it home.
